The Story

Tara lives on the far north coast of Urah,  a wild, stormy and beautiful island. Join her on a journey across wind-swept cliff tops and magical caves as she pursues the mischievous Pooka, and brings her family safely back together.

Tara’s Locket is a wonderful adventure set in a stunningly illustrated world. This unique virtual reality experience allows children and adults alike to step into that world and meet Tara and her friends.

Inspired by the landscapes, stories and folklore of Ireland’s dramatic Atlantic coast, Tara’s story explores the value of self-belief and the often overlooked contribution that children make to family ties.

Tara’s story begins on a normal day, her parents sailing out to sea in their fishing boat. As the weather worsens, however, Tara must call on her strength and wit to turn back the storm...

Tara

An island girl whose love of the sea is only surpassed by her love for her family, Tara is, though, too young to crew the fishing boat with her mum and dad. Waiting ashore however has given her time to explore the island and she knows every secret path and hidden cave.

Pooka

His bark worse than his bite, Pooka delights in mischief of all kinds. Underneath his prickly exterior he’s a softy and means no real harm. However, his tricks sometimes lead to dire troubles even though he intended only fun.

Storm Giant

Looming over the island and seas, a giant seems to roll out of the clouds as they gather for a storm. Great thunderheads give shape to his shoulders when he raises a huge fist in readiness to strike. He strikes fear into the hearts of even the most hardy mariners.

Tara's Mum

Tara’s parents are fisherfolk, just like their own parents and grandparents, and all help each other to bring in the catch. Her mother skippers the family boat, The Shearwater, and knows the seas around Urah better than anyone. Even she, though, can’t always predict the sudden changes in Atlantic weather.

Tara's Dad

The only thing loud enough to be heard above an island gale is Tara’s Dad’s booming laugh. Always cheerful, his encouragement gives Tara hope even when things look grim. It was from his mother that Tara received her locket.

Tara's Locket

Often, when Tara’s parents were out at sea, and she found herself missing them, Tara would open the locket her granny had given her to find a picture of her whole family together. This made her feel strong and safe.
